Music Discovery of the Day for 3/29/15

Today’s Discovery for Sunday, March 29 comes out of London, because, of course. X.I.S.M. is an ambient pop outfit that owes a lot of their sound to Sigur Ros. Beautiful, swirling piano and ambient noise create a breathtakingly lush atmosphere. Check out “As You Are” below.

London’s Kero Kero Bonito have been a pretty hot buzz band the last year or so. Their debut LP, Intro Bonito, included the hit track “Sick Beat”. In the last couple days, they released a new track titled “Picture This” and it’s a super fun little ditty. Check it out below.

Music Discovery of the Day for 3/9/15

Today’s Discovery for Monday, March 9 comes from the UK again. Life in Film is an indie rock group from Hackney in East London. Their sound is a pretty straight forward indie-rock one. The track, “Get Closer” seems to fuse some surf-rock and doo-wop influences to build a feel-good summer song. Their debut album, “Here It Comes” should be released this month.

Music Discovery of the Day for 3/7/15

Today’s Discovery for Saturday, March 7, comes by way of Harlem, and it’s freshity-fresh. Londoner Hannah Lucia moved to Harlem as a teenager, looking to sing in some jazz clubs. While waiting tables in town, she ran into Ben Bronfman (MIA, Kanye West), who agreed to produce tracks with her, and thus, this single “Lights Out” has appeared. Lucia appears to be the first artist on Bronfman’s Wave Theory Label. Today’s track “Lights Out” doesn’t take the safe route as it lays down some dark electronic track to back Hannah’s sultry vocals. It’s a beautiful, dark pop track, that I think you’ll enjoy. We should be hearing more out of Hannah Lucia as 2015 unfolds.
