How I Would Plan It: Coachella 2015

So, I’m a pretty notorious planner. When we’ve gone to ACL in the past, we typically see between 35-50+ acts in a weekend, by jumping sets and whatnot. I’ll go over setlists and anything I can get my hands on to pare the schedule down minute by minute. So I thought, with festival season upon us, I’d use my spidey-sense festival planning prowess to help you plot out your festival attending. Also, just b/c I like doing it. Anyways, Coachella didn’t do me any favors waiting until the absolute last minute to release the set times, but I’ve put together a quick version of how I would plan. I put in the splits to see as many artists as possible, but obviously it’s up to you what you want to do. If I’ve seen an artist and been impressed, or I know they have some great material to check out, I’ve highlighted them as “Can’t miss” acts in bold. Check it out and enjoy. You’ll notice I don’t give a shit about dance music (there are a few dance acts in the list though), as I wouldn’t even step foot in Sahara. 🙂 Here we go!

New Music: Best Coast “Heaven Sent”

Best Coast, Bethany Cosentino’s project based out of California, and inspired by surf rock and girl groups of the 50’s, have released a new track off their upcoming LP, California Nights. The track is titled “Heaven Sent” and has all the beach rock goodness that we’ve come to expect from Best Coast.

New Music: the Colourist “When I’m Away”

My wife and I (and Asa) saw the Colourist at a small festival outside on one of the sunniest, breeziest of summer days, and that’s really where the belong. Super sticky feel-good pop. The Orange County group released their latest single “When I’m Away” yesterday, and it lives up to their standard of smiley sunshine pop. Due out on a new EP, Will You Wait For Me, scheduled for release next Tuesday.
