Top Record for the Week of 2/24/15

There were a few pretty good records to round out the month, plus the first Texan to sit atop the list. This week’s top record:

James McMurtry “Complicated Game”

JamesMc
Get It On Vinyl

Austin based James McMurtry, son of Lonesome Dove author Larry McMurtry, has been toiling around the music scene since the late 80’s. “Complicated Game” is his first studio album since 2008’s “Just Us Kids”, and it’s quite the masterpiece of modern Americana. It’s a breathtaking display of songwriting and storytelling, as McMurtry crafts a wonderful batch of characters and stories into his work. His guitar work is not to be overlooked as well, as he weaves some pretty solid jams into the 12 tracks presented. I hope you get the chance to enjoy this excellent record.
